Title: Query Plan Operators - Deep Dive
We get a deep and in-depth look at some of the most common query plan operators. We'll look at what they do, how they do it and the circumstances in which they are chosen.
We will look at the good and bad aspects of each and why sometimes they aren't the right tool for the job. Using lots of examples we'll investigate the usage and impact they have on your SQL Server.

Bio: Dave Ballantyne is a freelance SQLServer database developer / designerand has been working in the IT field for over 20 years, the past 15 of which has been specialising within SQLServer environment.
Title: Cursors are Evil!
That's frequent advice given on forums when asking about performance problems. Its correct advice, but how do you go about removing cursors and what do you replace them with? That’s the tricky part! By de-constructing a cursor based routine, Dave will demonstrate a number of TSQL techniques and how they can be applied to generate a new routine with significantly less overhead.
