Chris Webb (@Technitrain) will be presenting Introduction to DAX queries and calculations
DAX is Microsoft’s new multidimensional query and calculation language, used in PowerPivot and the BISM Tabular model. This session will introduce basic concepts in BISM and show how to write simple DAX queries and calculations.
John Martin (@SQlServerMonkey) will be presenting on Service Broker 101.
In this session I will explain the basic components of Service Broker including Messages, Contracts, Queues, Dialogues and other objects that you need to get Service Broker talking. Covering which components are required for intra-database, inter-database and inter-instance communications. I will also highlight a number of very useful resources that you can use to help get up and running with Service Broker.
I will then work through two demos of how I put it to work as a DBA to collect data about various maintenance routines and tasks that I have running on various different versions and editions to a central repository to help me with daily checks. I will also demonstrate how I have used it to help fulfil a business reporting requirement for order status tracking to help highlight bottlenecks in business process.
