Who is it for?
This level 300 workshop is for development professionals who create or maintain database applications, schemas or queries. Attendees should be familiar with developing databases and queries with SQL Server and its T-SQL query language.
What you will learn
Day 1:
On the first day we will focus on changes to the most commonly used parts of SQL Server: client tools, T-SQL query language and database table design. Features covered will include:
Changes to SQL Server Management Studio
T-SQL assignment operators and row constructors
The new merge command
Enhancements to date and time storage

Day 2:
On day two we will look at new features in SQL Server 2008 and R2 for handling non-relational data and track changes to data within databases. We will also explore SQL Server's integration with the .Net developer world by reviewing SQL Server's support for XML data manipulation and CLR assemblies. Features covered will include:
Manipulating spatial and hierarchical data
Tracking data changes
Using full-text indexing
XML and CLR support
