These events are a really great opportunity to socialise in an informal learning experience - if you want your own exposure then come and do a 1 - 5 minute nugget in front of your peers.

In this session Tony will talk about the recent paradigm brought into play through the NoSQL movement for dealing with high performance, high scalability requirements but at a fraction of traditional costs. Tony will demonstrate a box built using commodity kit and will talk about how it may be used to good effect in a Business Intelligence setting. It will be an open discussion

8:00pm – 8:50 Neil Hambly -- "Why are we Waiting.."
The focus in this session is on interpreting the information in the (DMV) sys.dm_os_wait_stats and which of these “Waits “ are experiencing excessive waits and those you can safely ignore.
Using an established methodology like that of “Waits & Queues” to find and eliminate those pesky performance hurdles will only be successful if you can interpret those wait values correctly.
