Alex will cover the design and structure of your warehouse & cube to ensure users can get the information they want quickly and easily. This will be very demonstration orientated session, showing the ETL techniques and star schema design, and using Excel pivots to get the information to the users. We’ll look at modelling the following scenarios

·         Fully additive data (i.e. sales/transactions)

·         Semi additive data (i.e. account balances/stock control)

·         Duration based data (i.e. property tenancies)

 

If we have time we’ll have a Q&A session, so feel free to bring your data modelling problems along!

PowerPivot gives users the power to create compelling self-service BI solutions, facilitates sharing and collaboration on  user-generated BI solutions in a Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 environment, and enables IT organizations to increase
operational efficiencies through Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2-based management tools.


 In this session Adam will provide an introduction to the PowerPivot add in for Excel 2010 including;

    • Importing data from multiple sources
    • Creating linked data
    • Creating relationships from different sources
    • Creating PivotTables and PivotCharts
    • Adding Slicers


We also have a signed copy of Kalen Delaney's SQL Server 2008 Internals book to

give away on the night!!
