7:50pm – 8.50pm

"How are my servers Today?", Colin Leversuchs-Roberts

One of the worst things that can happen to a Production DBA is for the users to tell him or her when there is a problem with their SQL Server.
It's very easy to create real time performance dashboards and alerts for your servers and applications using SQL Server and SSRS.
Here's a walkthrough of a working solution with illustrations on how to display "difficult data", how to collect data and how to work with what you collect.
Spot potential problems before they become critical, diagnose issues in real time, view historical data to predict trends.
The monitoring works for sql 2000 onwards although SSRS 2005 is required for some of the dashboards.
